The Jawa motorcycles range include models like the Jawa 350 Style and Jawa 650 Classic. Frantisek Janecek began manufacturing Wanderer motorcycles under licence in 1927, in order to diversify the interests of his arms factory.

In 1929 he bough the tooling for a 500cc model and rebranded the machine with the name JAWA, which is derived from the first two letters of the words "Janacek" and "Wanderer". The shaft-drive model had a pressed steel frame and was powered by a 498 cc OHV engine.
